What is a Geopolymer?

This is a very specialized material but the best way to explain it is that it appears to be cement but does not have any portland cement in it at all. This material goes through a polymerization process not a hydration process. Portland cement is the glue binder holds together the structure of concrete and mortar products. The weak link in portland cement is that is not corrosion resistant and will deteriorate very quickly when exposed to high levels of acidic corrosion.

A pure geopolymer product is inert to acidic chemical reactions, thus the material binder does not degrade when exposed to a corrosive environment, like what we find in sanitary sewer collection systems. The H2S build up inside a sewer system destroys uncoated concrete and metal structures. These structure loose their structural integrity and fail over time. Geopolymers are the next evolution of construction materials, just PVC pipe was 30 plus years ago. This is a paradigm shift type material with exponential global potential.
